All Souls' Day

I'm reading: All Souls' Day ~ Twitter FaceBook

All souls day is just around the corner and i know most of you, especially people in the Paradise Philippines, are already preparing themselves and the things they will be bringing on visiting their loved ones who already passed away.

But how can you really say that you're physically and spiritually prepared? Here are the 5 things you need to check and do before going to the cemetery.

  • Sleep at least 8 hours before going to the cemetery. I know this might sound cliché but 8 hours of sleep is still best for your body. Preparing and going to the cemetery will really drain your body that's why you will be needing tons of energy and you can obtain that simply by having enough rest. Imagine yourself preparing, walking, riding jeepneys, MRTs, LRTs going to the cemetery without good rest... Do you think you can survive the next few hours of your stay in that vicinity? I don't think so. Save and get all the energy you will need for this day. If you can take energy drinks, or multi-vitamins just to have the strength you will need, then do so. It’s better to have lots of energy than to be weak, poor, and flabby.

  • Wear comfortable clothes. I’m pretty sure you'll not be going to a cemetery party so you really don't need to dress up. I prefer wearing comfortable clothes when going to the cemetery. And when I say comfortable clothes, I mean pants or shorts, an ordinary t-shirt, and walking shoes. You have to remember that you're in the cemetery to visit and pray for your dead loved ones and not to show off to other people.

  • Praying materials should come first. The sole purpose of you going to the cemetery is to remember your passed away loved ones and pray for their soul. I think it's only right to prioritize your praying materials instead of any other items. Praying materials include candles, flowers, praying pamphlets, rosaries, crucifix, bible, etc. Of course, praying materials depends as to what religion and beliefs you have. The cited examples of praying materials were based in the Catholic Christian religion.

  • Bring important necessities and leave unnecessary items. Important necessities include drinking water, food, extra t-shirt, extra face towel, alcohol, band-aid, mini chair, umbrella, and a fan. Unnecessary items include radio, alcoholic drinks, playing cards, board games, and the things that it is not really needed. Paradise Philippines' cemetery can't accommodate all the things you wanted to bring. So let us all try to adjust and I'm pretty sure that everything will be alright.

  • Leave kids at home. Every year, there has always been a case of a missing child on the cemetery. Let's face it: children will just be another burden if we will be bringing them to the cemetery. If you can let someone watch over them at your home, then that would be better. Or let your trusted neighbor watch over them. I don't think they'll mind since it doesn't happen often.

November 1 and 2 is the day where in we want to spend our time with our dead loved ones. But that doesn't mean we don't need to take care of ourselves going to the cemeteries. Paradise Philippines has been very blessed with good citizens respecting their dead loved ones. That's one of the reasons why I love our Paradise Philippines.

Barangay and SK Elections

I'm reading: Barangay and SK Elections ~ Twitter FaceBook

Once again, barangay and SK elections are just around the corner. Here in our paradise Philippines, candidates for election are really eager to campaign themselves on their jurisdictions. Stickers, posters, fliers, and pamphlets are everywhere. If you’re lucky, and one candidate on your barangay has a budget for his campaign, he’ll give away good stuff such as t-shirts, vests, calendars, or anything that has a purpose or can be use even if the elections are already done. Of course, you have to expect their faces and names on that stuff.

As a simple citizen in our paradise Philippines, we think of this barangay elections as just an ordinary day. Oftentimes, some people tend to not to vote and just go to work even if it is already declared as a holiday. They would rather choose a double pay than voting their ideal barangay officials. ‘It’s no use. Paradise Philippines will still be the same and will never experience any economic growth even if I vote for my ideal officials’. That will probably be the response you’ll get if you plan to ask someone who’ll not be voting on Monday (October 29, 2007). Partly true but there’s no harm if we’ll practice the positive thinking attitude. Paradise Philippines have been suffering from corrupt officials for the last (God knows how long) several years but that doesn’t mean that there’s no hope for our beloved country: Paradise Philippines. We have so many wonderful things around us and it’s up to us how we will maximize it.

Anyway, back to the topic, I’m here to help those people who still believe that Barangay election is something to look forward to. Let us educate each other for this upcoming event so that our votes will not go to waste.

Here are some of the pointers everyone could use for the upcoming paradise Philippines’ barangay elections:

  1. 1. Know the vacancy. When I say vacancy, I’m pertaining to the vacant positions that the candidates are running for. Do you know what positions to vote? Do you know how many kagawads you have to vote for? Do you how many years will your elected chairman serve your barangay? These are the type of questions you should know before choosing your ideal officials.

Candidates for the barangay election are only given 15 days as their campaigning period. That means, that’s the only time they’re allowed to shake hands, to wave, give pamphlets, fliers, banners, and other things to the people. The time before and after that is a ‘no campaign period’ for everyone.

You will be electing one chairman and five kagawads. These elected candidates will be your barangay officials for the next six years and/or until the next elected officials have been qualified. They can only serve for three consecutive terms, after which, they can either run for another position or not run at all. The barangay secretary and treasurer are appointed by the chairman therefore, you need not to vote anyone for these two positions.

  2. 2. Who are the candidates? Prepare a major list of the candidates in your barangay. It will be very helpful because we know for a fact that it’s hard to remember all of the names of the candidates and the positions they’re running for.

  3. 3. Candidates’ Background. It’s not enough to know the names of the candidates on your barangay. You should also know, and it’s a must, that you know at least a little bit of their background. How old are they? Is this the first time they’re running? Do they have a family? Where do they live? What’s their platform? Those are some of the questions you need to know about your barangay’s candidates.

  4. 4. Make you final list. Now you have gathered all the needed information about them, this is the best time to reflect and to think who deserves to be your barangay officials. Their background and what they have done will most likely give you the idea of what they can do for your barangay. Make you final list so that when its time to go to your voting precinct, you will just copy the list of your ideal candidates causing a little time spent.

Let’s bring back our paradise Philippines to its successful and stable economy. We can sweep all the corrupt officials in our country just by choosing the right officials. And we can start by electing the good candidates for our barangay. Let’s exercise our right to vote. Paradise Philippines is counting on all of us: her countrymen

Glorietta Incident

I'm reading: Glorietta Incident ~ Twitter FaceBook

Is this the real meaning of Paradise Philippines? Bombing everywhere?!?! I know this Blog is created to up sell the beauty and wonders of the paradise Philippines, but I think it would be unfair if we'll not discuss some of the tragic moments that our paradise Philippines have.

Last Friday, October 19, 2007, at exactly 1:30 in the afternoon, an explosion was heard at Glorietta Mall 2 in Makati City. People panicked causing a stampede on the location. Many got hurt but the worst part was some people have died because of this tragic incident.

The last news I got was that 11 persons has already been declared dead (one injured man has been declared dead by the hospital just yesterday and a body of a 23-year old woman was found dead buried at the basement part of the mall). Up to this time, 70+ people were injured.

Investigators and policemen said they still don't have any clue whose to blame in the bombing but they're doing their very best to solve this case.

Let us all pray that this may never happen again and let us help all the victims of this tragic moment.

To all the family, friends, and loved ones of the people who passed away because of the bombing, we offer our full-hearted condolences.

May your loved one's soul rest in peace. AMEN.

I was with my officemates (emz, carlo, romz, bheng, annalyn, ceriz, rico, yow, and mike a.) at Landmark food court before this tragic moment happened. We were happily eating our lunch and enjoying our time together that I took two pictures while we're there.

we decided to eat our lunch at landmark food court. we were few steps away from Glorietta. actually, we were kind of thinking to go to Glorietta to eat our lunch. fortunately, we were saved by our angels and led us to be unharmed. right after eating, just few steps away from landmark... we're at the catwalk going back to the office, we saw lots of fire trucks, polices, ambulances and there we found that there has been an explosion.

i'm really thankful that we were all completely unharmed...

Thank you Lord.

But the tragic moment of Paradise Philippines doesn't end there. Unaware of what might happen, or shall I say 'aftershock' of the incident last Friday, the mall decided to open Glorietta 1, 3, and 4 (the unaffected part) last Saturday and Sunday. When suddenly, a fire hits the second floor of Glorietta 4 coming from one of its seafood restaurants. Fortunately, no one got hurt but this is nothing to celebrate about. Is this just a coincidence or someone really is behind this tragic incidents on our paradise Philippines?

Please always be careful when you're going somewhere. May it be to the mall, to the park, or to the market, please be fully conscious of your surrounding and never panic on events such as this for it will not help you in anyway. Stay focus, stay calm and always pray to God to send his guardian angels to protect you and your loved ones.
